An access log is a complete list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a particular website. Any file that was requested for some reason will be listed, so if you have a single page with 3 embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for any of the 6 files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log typically offers the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s Operating System, browser and IP address. Oftentimes you may also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the functionality of a site, independent of the web statistics which your web hosting server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your hosting account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantaneously, so if you no longer require one, you could stop it with simply a click from the exact same section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our state-of-the-art web hosting platform shall generate access logs for every single site hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this feature is activated. All domains and subdomains that you have will be listed inside the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which we supply with all of the accounts, so if you want our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should just click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You could disable this feature anytime by following the same steps. You can find a Download link for each log within the exact same section of the Control Panel, so you will be able to save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with just a click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the feature has been disabled, so you will still be able to see the data that's already been generated.
