SPF, which is an abbreviation for Sender Policy Framework, is a verification system that aims at protecting against the so-called email faking. Basically, it indicates sending a message from one email and making it seem to be sent from a different one with the purpose to scam in some way the person getting it. In the event that the SPF protection is activated for a domain, a record that contains all mail servers authorized to send messages with addresses under the domain is made. The record is saved on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic across the globe, thus they all can recognize if an email message originates from an authentic server or not. The check is performed at the first server where the email goes through and in the first case the e-mail message is forwarded, whereas in the second one it is discarded and it never reaches its intended recipient. Applying SPF records for your domain names will stop any unauthorized people from using your emails for malicious purposes.

SPF Protection in Hosting

If you host your domains in a hosting account on our end and we handle the email addresses for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a couple of clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service can be found in its own section where you're able to see which domains are currently secured. For the ones that are not, you will be able to activate the SPF protection option and configure numerous things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to create a rule that email messages can be sent only if your domains use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, but it can be used when we take care of the email addresses for your domains and do not use another e-mail service provider. The new records will propagate within a day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email by using your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes as standard with all our Linux semi-dedicated hosting service, provides you with an incredibly user-friendly interface to activate the SPF protection service for every domain name that you host in your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that and you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your emails. When the emails are managed on our end and not by some other provider, you're able to increase the protection level even more and activate an option for all of the outgoing emails to be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. This option will provide you with better control and it'll eliminate any possibility of anyone counterfeiting your e-mail addresses with the intention of spamming and / or scamming people. It's not applicable when only your site is hosted on our state-of-the-art cloud website hosting platform, while your e-mail addresses are managed by another provider. If you aren't sure what options to pick, our tech support crew will assist you 24/7.
