Transferring an active domain involves changing the registrar company that handles the registration service, so after the transfer itself, you’ll have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS modifications through the new registrar company. The transfer procedure is standard with most universal and country-specific top-level domain name extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain entails several necessary procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain name. The domain lock is a security option, which is being adopted by more and more registry organizations. It’s a default feature supported by all generic Top-Level Domains. If a domain name is locked, it won’t be possible to start a transfer procedure, so nobody can even try to steal your domain name. The lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain is registered in the first place and all new domains that support this functionality are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

Locking and unlocking a domain registered through our company is extremely easy. This can be achieved through the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our Linux hosting, and will require literally two mouse clicks. All your domain names will be listed alphabetically in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the registrar lock option, you’ll notice a padlock-like symbol. Click on it once and you will notice the present status of the domain. Click once again and you will change its status. The change will propagate instantaneously without the need for you or for us to do anything else for the status to be ‘refreshed’ on WHOIS lookup websites, so you can continue with the transfer procedure right away.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

Managing your domain names with us is unbelievably easy and the registrar lock feature is not an exception. In case you have a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to manage the domain names registered through us using the same Control Panel via which you’ll manage your hosting account. For the sake of convenience, the domains will be displayed alphabetically and on the right you’ll notice a padlock icon if the particular domain name supports the registrar lock option. If you click the icon, you’ll find out if the given domain is locked or not and you’ll be able to modify this status by clicking again. The status will be updated instantly and you will be able to initiate the domain transfer without having to wait for the change to be shown on WHOIS lookup sites or for us to do anything on our end.
